Organizations of all types and sizes are migrating their IBM i systems to the cloud to take advantage of the numerous benefits and efficiencies. Cloud solutions allow IT managers to gain system performance with scalable resources, reduced maintenance, and predictable monthly expenses.
At CloudFirst we acknowledged early on that the cloud would evolve into a powerful tool for businesses and we’re seeing that demand increase more and more every day.
As a leader in cloud services and solutions for users of IBM i, AIX and Linux systems, at CloudFirst we’re getting a lot of recognition from the media. In fact, IT Jungle, a highly respected news website on all things relates to IBM systems, recently presented an in-depth editorial piece on CloudFirst and its efforts to demystify cloud solutions and promote easy migration of data and apps to its cloud environment. In our efforts to simplify the journey to the cloud, we developed a guide, entitled, “Getting Ready for IBM i on CloudFirst.”
The purpose of the guide is to dispel misconceptions among businesses and their IT managers about adopting cloud solutions.
There has been a general perception among some managers that making the move toward cloud solutions is cumbersome, costly, and complicated.
In the IT Jungle story, CloudFirst President Hal Schwartz and Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Chuck Paolillo reveal why lifting the shroud on migrating workloads to the cloud is important, emphasizing that migration can be a seamless and painless process.
The proof is in the migrating and partnering with the right cloud services provider.
“In our experience, we discerned that there is often quite a bit of confusion within companies when it comes to adopting cloud solutions and migrating IBM i workloads,” Mr. Schwartz explains. “There can be a shortfall in communication among stakeholders. We make these points in the IT Jungle article, and have worked to dispel these hurdles when working with prospective clients. That’s why we developed the guide.”
According to Mr. Paolillo, it’s been CloudFirst’s experience with many companies that while management is prepared for cloud migration on the technology end, there is often a lack of preparation in making the ultimate transition to cloud platforms.
CloudFirst developed its ‘Getting Ready for Cloud Migration’ document to ease the preparation process. “It’s always been our intention to make the migration process seamless and flawless; our ‘Getting Ready’ guide goes a long way toward opening the door to cloud for companies that can truly benefit from cloud services.
We make these observations in the “IT Jungle” editorial piece, and we’re pleased that they’ve focused on our efforts to open up the cloud to businesses of all stripes.”
The ‘Getting Ready for IBM i on CloudFirst’ guide has already proven to be an invaluable tool for businesses that have adopted cloud services for their IBM i workloads, and for others who are considering the transition.
