A report by consulting firm Deloitte, based on a survey of 500 senior cloud decision makers in the U.S. across a wide range of industries, noted that organizations are increasingly using cloud investments to boost business performance, drive strategic outcomes, and enable breakthrough innovation.
The contribution cloud plays in enabling business strategy can be significant, the report said, and cloud-based technologies can drive value in ways organizations might not know or realize.
While Cloud is now the default platform for business, many organizations are hesitant to modernize their systems and putting themselves at risk by running End of Life (EOL) equipment.

Modernizing Systems via Successful Cloud Transition
For those organizations using End of Life or near EOL systems, especially those running legacy IBM Power systems hardware, a move to the cloud to modernize clearly makes sense.
Why would any organization want to take the risk of running critical applications on an EOL system that is long past its prime and, presents a significant possibility of data loss or systems failure?
Beyond the risks of business downtime and loss of data, a company could face legal and compliance issues including failure to meet regulatory requirements. Failure to comply with mandates such as data privacy laws can be costly.
The Key to Cloud Transition Success
The key to a successful cloud transition is finding an experienced partner that can assess the EOL situation, identify risks and make recommendations on solutions that will ensure a smooth transition to the cloud. Prior to making the decision to transition off EOL systems, it’s essential to do your homework.
Search for an experienced cloud services provider with a strong track record guiding businesses of all sizes and complexions from EOL systems to the cloud.
The provider should explain the benefits of migrating to the cloud, provide a step-by-step process, and work with you every step of the way.
